Our Bendigo Community
The More You Know
Step back in time at the Bendigo Military Museum this ANZAC Day. Discover our past, honor our heroes. #Remembrance

On ANZAC Day, the Bendigo community gathers not only to remember the gallant sacrifices of those who served but also to educate and immerse in the rich military history preserved within the Bendigo Military Museum. Opened on the 97th anniversary of its initial establishment, the museum stands as a beacon of historical preservation in the heart of Bendigo. This ANZAC Day was marked by a special exhibit, “REMEMBRANCE,” featuring works from the Golden River Artists, including Teresa Parkinson’s deeply personal piece, “Threads of War,” inspired by her Polish heritage.

Visitors to the museum were moved by the range of displays from various conflicts and peacekeeping missions, highlighting the local heroes’ roles. The museum’s role in the community is bolstered by its support from the Bendigo District RSL Sub-Branch, making it a cornerstone of regional heritage education. Events and exhibitions, like the touching portrayals in “REMEMBRANCE” and historical pieces such as a bullet-riddled Singer sewing machine, offer a poignant glimpse into the past while educating future generations.
