SPAN Central Victoria held their 10th walk to raise awareness of suicide in the community and reduce the stigma associated with it. The event took place on Sunday, March 19th at Dia Gum San Bridge Street. Larissa Gawthrop, the guest speaker, shared her own personal loss and drew insight from it to spread awareness. Her speech left a positive impact on the attendees and helped them understand different mindsets. The event was led by piper Darryle Kenyon, with walkers following. The team from headspace Bendigo and Youth Ambassador Steph from Bendigo Community Health Services supported the Suicide Prevention Awareness Network - Central Victoria Walk. The event also included a butterfly ceremony, with Meryl Wilkinson playing the harp beautifully. Various groups, including StandBy Support After Suicide Country Womens Association, Catherine McAuley College students, Rotary, and Lifeline Loddon Mallee, supported the day to share the message of hope and support to the community. Overall, the event was a success and played a crucial role in raising awareness about suicide prevention in the Bendigo region.
